Mental Health training in Fort William and the Highlands and Islands

We deliver 3 levels of Mental Health First Aid training.

They are all Scottish Qaulifications Authority acreddited and sit on the Scottish Credits and Qaulifications Framework. 

All 3 levels can be combined into one course for up to 16 people.

What levels of Mental Health courses and who are they designed for?
Level 4 Mental Health Awareness 4 hours

Short 4 hour course that is for those who are in a strategic position such as senior management, entrepreneurs and other leaders. This general overview means they can understand the affect of mental health on the workplace and how to support the Mental Health First Aiders.

Level 5 Mental Health First Aid 1 Day

1 day or 6 hours for those who supervise or manage staff and need a greater understanding of mental health.

Level 6 lead for Mental Health First Aid 2 Day

2 day or 12 hour course for those who will be leading on mental health. Gives them the skills and confidence to start difficult conversations and signpost to affective support.

How many people on course

How many people on a course?

Up to 16 people people on a course. We can do smaller course but 4 would be the minimium to make the course affective.

Cost 

£450 per day for the trainer, equipment and consumables, currently no VAT, £15 to £22 per person registration and certification costs. Currently no VAT is payable. ​ Examples: 1 day Mental Health First Aid, is £450 for the trainer and equipment. Certification is £20 per person and you can have up to 16 people on a course. Total price is £770 or £48 per head.

Travel Cost 

Outside the immediate Lochaber area we charge 45p per mile from out office, PH33 7JP. ​ Ferries and tolls are added to the invoice at cost.  ​ We do not charge for the trainers travel time, even for the Islands.

Accommodation

For multi day courses or those more than two hours from PH33 7JP we may need to add accomdation costs. This is normally from £75 to £150 per night. With the exact dates we can then confirm final accommodation costs.  If you have accommodation for the trainer it may reduce your total cost.

Do you cover our area of Scotland? 

Probably! Our core area is the Highlands council and Argyll council. We have done course on the Isle of Bute, Eigg, Iona and Skye. West on the mainland we cover Ardnamurchan, Lochaline, Kilchoan, Oban and Argyll.  East to Aberdean, Inverness, Nairn and Elgin North to Wick and Thurso, then across to Ullapool, Applecross and Tongue.  South to Edinburgh and Glasgow. We charge mileage but not travel time, even for the islands.

What size room?   

We have delivered courses in workshops, barns, castles and stately homes; even forests and yurts.  ​ All we need is enough room for every one the course to sit in small groups and still have space for a whiteboard per group. Electricity is useful but we can deliver a course with out. Access to a toilet is alway good.

We don't have space?   

No problem your local knowledge will help us find a venue, a local hall, hotel or collaberating with other local business and organisations. Local venues often cost from about £85 to £150 a day.  If you are near Fort William we often use Kilmallie Free Church, depending on the room hired this costs from £85 to £150 per day for a modern, spacouse venue with amazing views down the loch.
